Shankar in his Endhiran!

What more? The director of extravaganza will be peeping in front of the camera for a few scenes in his upcoming project, ‘Endhiran’. We must have not forgotten the song “Balley Lakka” in ‘Sivaji’ that too has Shankar appearing on screen! Looks like the director has asked his assistants to arrange the costume needed for him. And when our Superstar learnt about it, he had called the director and encouraged him to act in a prominent character. But, surprisingly Shankar has kept his role as suspense, even Rajini don’t have a hint about the role of Shankar. We also heard that Shankar’s portion will be shot inside a set that reassembles a lab. It’s noteworthy that Shankar has appeared on screen in small character roles in most of his movies.

In fact an interesting flashback of this director is that he entered the tinsel town with a thirst for acting and slowly evolved as a director.

Endhiran’s Robotic verses!

Although most of Endhiran’s lyrics are penned by the Shankar regular Vairamuthu, one song is being entrusted with the poet’s son. Now it looks like lyricist Na. Muthukumar will also be on the list as a last minute addition. If sources are to be believed, Muthukumar will write lyrical verses for Endhiran. These short verses will be used in the movie reportedly for the Robot character, also played by Rajini.

Endhiran’s post production works are already underway and it is also learnt that Rajini is up and about with the dubbing works. Although no release date has been announced yet officially, it’s widely believed that the mammoth venture will hit the screens later next year.

Rajini to celebrate birthday in Pune

Rajinikanth’s birthday is less than a month away (December 12th) and the fans are already gearing up to celebrate it in a big way. With the Endhiran shooting progressing in Chennai for the last few days, it was expected that Rajini would be stationed in Chennai. However, the latest news from the Super Star’s camp is that the Endhiran team is moving to Pune to shoot a few scenes and Rajini would be celebrating his birthday on the sets.

Though this news had dampened the spirits of the Rajini fans, they nevertheless plan a huge birthday celebration for their star.

‘Endhiran’ creates traffic jam in Chennai

The whole team of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ was in Rajalakshmi College, Madhuravoil from 10th of November to 12th.

A risky stunt sequence choreographed by stunt master Peter Haynes was shot on a magnificent set. A scene in which robot Rajini’s car being burnt was also shot inside the college campus.

Director Shankar happened to see an over bridge that is under construction in Maduravoil ring road near Mugappair. That is the Chennai High Speed Circular Transportation Corridor, an urban road transit in the form of elevated concentric beltway planned for Chennai. This particular over bridge is being designed so well that it looks like some foreign location. So the director had planned to shoot the car chase of ‘Endhiran’ in this location.

The shoot of the car chasing is being canned there from yesterday. We hear that many of Superstar’s fans who reside in nearby areas got to know about this and crowded the shooting spot. Looks like the crowd created a traffic jam in the bypass road causing difficulties. Moreover many fans tried to take pictures of Rajinikanth with the cameras in their cell phones. The private security guards who were there tried to stop it, but in vain.

The shoot will go on there for few more days and the next schedule is planned in the beautiful East Coast Road.

Rajini’ car blown up

Finally, we’ve got more news about Endhiran! The team was spotted at the Rajalakshmi College in Maduravayal in Chennai shooting an important fight sequence. The fight has been choreographed by the famous stunt director Peter Hein. Art director Sabu Cyril has taken care of the sets for the film.

Two Ford cars were brought to the spot for this particular scene. While one was a real car driven by Rajinikanth in the film, the other was a dummy which was brought in to be blown up in a shoot out. This scene was shot to perfection by the film’s director Shankar today (November 11th, 2009).

What next for Endhiran?

‘Endhiran’ that is shaping up in the hands of Shankar with the help of Rajini-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s perfect blend is nearing its final stage now!

The shoot of this mega budget film had been on the roll from September 2008. First Shankar took his team to Peru for shooting a duet between the lead pair. Then the team was in Goa, Chennai and then Vellore. Now 90% of the film’s shoot is over and 2 song sequences with some part of the climax fight are there to be shot, say the sources.

Last year on 26th, 27th and 28th of December the fight scene in which the Robo Rajini fights with the original Rajini was shot at VIT University in Vellore. What we hear from the sources is that the remains of the climax will be shot in the same college. Moreover the scenes which will be shot with the help of blue matte will be done in Prasad Studios.

Endhiran’s blazing climax

Endhiran

The shooting of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ is fast approaching its climax! Currently the team is busy in putting its heart and sweat into the making of the movie’s climax.

Being the significant part of the movie, the scene features a fire bursting out of a scientist’s laboratory. This is said to be only a 4-min scene, however an elaborate set has been erected in the city’s Prasad Studios.

The production team has specially flown down few Hollywood visual effects companies to supervise this fire scene. This expertise will decide as to how and where special effects would be applicable while editing later.

Now, did you know that this is something new and done for the first time in our Indian cinema? Well, this method was earlier followed by a famous American filmmaker George Lucas in several Hollywood flicks of his times. Shankar had recently highlighted the importance of special effects and graphics in movies.

A dedicated man he is, our Superstar has insisted on staying on the sets, to see the shooting; although he has no role to play in it.

Hmm, now if such interesting things are happening on the sets, one would be really thrilled to experience the happenings live! Right?

Shankar speaks on Endhiran!

Shankar has given an interview to a Tamil daily where he has said: “ Endhiran is beyond imagination, with much grandeur and richness.

You can see the effort which is to be taken for 10 films in this one film. Rajni is such an amazing hero. Just words can’t describe his efforts.”

On Rajini’s look in the film, Shankar says “Sivaji was just a sample of how young the star can look. In Endhiran he will look even younger. For his make up things, we went to America and searched in many places but nothing came right. Then we tried in India and it worked out perfectly for the character he plays. Normally make-up, Kamal will only take efforts for make up is the public opinion. But in this film Rajni has taken amazing efforts as he waited patiently for two three hours to put up the make-up.”

On Aiswarya Rai- Rajinikanth screen combination, Shankar says: “There was terrific chemistry between them, as she plays a medical student. Shankar added that the film has “never before seen special effects and graphics.” They have used a technique called “Animatronics” the use of electronics and robotics in mechanised puppets (Robos) to make them appear to be alive.

Soundarya as a specialist in ‘Endhiran’

Preparing for the final leg of the shoot director Shankar said that two songs are left to be canned abroad. “The first science-fiction film in Tamil will deal with the good and bad effects of robots in the backdrop of Indian culture”, said the director. Our superstar also confirmed it saying that more than 80%of the film’s shoot is over, during the ‘Eeram’ audio launch.

Sources close to the production house says that Sun TV is planning to release the film by April 2010. The reason behind the delay is the usage of EFX, CG and 3D animation techniques unlike another Tamil movie. They have used nearly two lakhs and fifty thousand frames for these special effects!

As all these works can’t be finished in Chennai alone, few important scenes have been handed over to a company in Canada. It’s heard that this particular firm has handled several Hollywood movies.

The focal information is that our hero Superstar’s daughter Soundarya is an important member in the team of Endhiran’s Digital experts’ team. The girl is always very much involved in boosting up her dad’s image… Great!

Rajini against Rajinis

“Endhiran” has been making headlines ever since it’s shooting commenced. Some of the big names of Indian cine industry including gorgeous Aishwarya Rai are coming together for this one.

Recently the shooting for a fight scene of the film was taking place in Chennai in the set that was erected by one of India’s popular art directors Sabu Cyril. According to the sources, the stunt was between superstar Rajinikanth and 100 other robots that look like him. Fight master Peter Heinz composed this stunt sequence along with few foreign fight masters.

Now another interesting tittle-tattle is that many Hollywood companies are roped in for the visual effects (VFX) of the film. Hollywood companies like ILM, Tippet, Cafe EFX; and Hong Kong companies like Centro and Menfond are involved in this mega-budget project.

We say- Cooooool...

Robot Rajini in Chennai now

The Sirucheri SIPCOT industrial estate is the area in which our robot Rajini is right now! The team of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ is working busily in the location to complete an important scene of the film out there.

We hear that Shankar has brought in an extremely strange Volvo bus in to the sets. Birdies say that the director has transformed a normal Volvo bus into a satellite remote sensing lab. This makeover process of the bus has cost a whooping 50 lakhs!

A scene in which a morph gang attacks the robot Rajini, who is inside this satellite remote sensing lab, is being filmed. The blow of the news is that our superstar is not in the shooting spot at all. It’s a stunt artist who is masked as the robot Rajini.

Using a dupe is not a big deal as our Superstar is a real-time hero. What say people?

Shankar’s tech-adviser for ‘Endhiran’

Director Shankar appointed a youth who has done his Doctorate in robotic-technology, for assisting him in ‘Endhiran’ as the technological adviser. The youth who is always noticed as a ball-of-energy along with his laptop is the son of a bigwig. This young talent is none other than Karkhi Vairamuthu!

As we all know lyricist Vairamuthu has two sons. The eldest son Kabilan is a software engineer, while the younger son Karkhi has entered cine field to become like his father. As of now ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’, ‘Kanden Kadhalai’, ‘Endhiran’ are the projects in which Karkhi has penned lyrics.

Karkhi, who has done Doctorate from Australia, is not just the Lyricist and technological adviser of ‘Endhiran’, but also Shankar’s associate director!

When we asked if he will touch greater heights than his dad, Karkhi said with a smart smile, “Dad is like a tall mountain I’m at his base. I’m just starting it all.”

Though he is all-time busy as a lyricist, assistant director and tech-adviser, Karkhi is working as a scientist in Chennai Anna University.

Karkhi seems to prove that, ‘Intelligence is in the head, not in the age’. Let’s give it up for this man guys!

The Endhiran truth!

Looks like the buzz about Endiran releasing for this Diwali are nothing but rumors. A source close to the Endhiran stable revealed that although 85% of the movie is wrapped up except for a few scenes, the major chunk of the task, the post-production work is expected to extend for a year.

Made at a whopping budget, Endhiran’s graphics and visual effects are the highlights and will go on for about a year before the movie is ready to embellish the movie screens.

Endhiran songs on the net

Two songs from the Rajinikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran has found its way to YouTube.com. The footage, which runs to about four minutes, is of good clarity and shows Rajini and Ash rehearsing with a host of dancers at the backdrop. With both sound as well as visual clarity, the two songs are creating waves among the movie buffs. YouTube is said to have recorded over 13,000 hits so far. It is worth mentioning here that Oscar winner AR Rahman had scored the music for Endhiran.

Since it is not a copyright infringement, the Endhiran team cannot ask YouTube to remove it from the site, sources say. Rajinikanth and Shankar are furious over this leak and it needs to be seen if the songs will be replaced.

Accident on Endhiran’s set

There was an unfortunate accident today on the sets of Sun Pictures’ Endhiran. A big set of a hospital had been erected along the OMR road for the film’s shooting. The accident occurred early in the morning when preparations were in full swing for the day’s work; a crew member suffered a serious electric shock. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Adyar where he is now admitted. Reports on his condition are awaited though it is being said that he is out of danger.

As shooting was yet to start when the accident took place, none of the artistes were present at that time. The scenes that were scheduled to be shot for the day have been postponed.

This accident on the sets of Endhiran comes right on the back of reports of a very unfortunate incident at the shooting spot of Raavan. Hope that both movies are able to overcome these temporary setbacks soon.

Rajini hails Vairamuthu

Kaviyarasu Vairamuthu is truly a magician of lyrics. His abundant literary works and countless musical compositions are priceless treasures of Tamil cinema.

Recently the great poet and lyricist had impressed our Superstar Rajinikanth. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for few songs in Rajni’s ‘Endhiran’. Endhiran, meaning Robot, tells the story of a man who invents a robot. To suit the situation, Vairamuthu had written that as the robot is invented by a man, it has ‘father tongue’ and not ‘mother tongue’. Rajnikanth was bowled over this and wondered at Vairamuthu’s intelligence. A humble Vairamuthu said that even the director Shankar and Superstar were to share the appreciation for this line.

Well, we all are highly impressed with you sir, for all the memorable songs you have given so far.

Aishwarya Rai’s fight with Rajinikanth

Ash’s ability to do stunts was evident in her films like Dhoom II and Jodhaa Akbar. The actress is now learning Karate from noted Karate master Ramesh to do some daredevil stunts in the Shankar-directed Endhiran. From what we heard, the sources close to the team say, Ash will have a fight sequence in the film, where she will test her fighting skills on Rajinikanth. Sources say that Endhiran has a scene where Rajini teaches martial arts to Ash and an interesting fight sequence has been canned.

Hariharan lends his voice to Endhiran

The project Endhiran is moving fast with amazing scenes and sets at different locales around the globe giving a rewarding shape to Shankar's dream with Super Star in cast. With the music for the film being composed by the Oscar winner A R Rahman and some new technologies being used in the composition, there is definitely no doubt about the songs dominating the musical charts.

The title song in Rajini's movies generally are rendered by the music legend SPB. This time sources say that the title song of Endhiran has been delivered by Hariharan. Rajini plays the roles of both a robot and a scientist.

Endhiran’s new gadget

Here’s latest from the Endhiran sets. Shankar has hired a modified Maruti Gypsy for his fantasy-thriller Endhiran. The Maruti Gypsy, reportedly altered by a noted mechanic in Pudupet, Chennai, cost around Rs. 3 lakhs for the modification.

The same vehicle, according to the mechanic, was also used for election campaigning and Shankar got bowled over by its design and hired it for the flick. The Gypsy, as huge as a bus, has 20-inch wheels fixed to it with significant modifications also done to the engine.

Rahman’s special instrument for ‘Endhiran’

Remember the postlude in the pensive jazzy Rehna Tu in 'Delhi 6'? That was made possible with the help of what is called the Continuum Fingerboard.

It is not an instrument in itself and works like a synthesizer of sorts, to enhance what any other instrument produces. The continuum does not come with traditional keys and has a touch screen with very long music sustenance. This was developed in the University of Illinois and has been used in Indian cinema only by AR Rahman. World over, there are said to be only eight people using the finger continuum.

Of course, AR Rahman’s penchant for technology is known. The academy winning composer started out only as a keyboard arranger, and legends are innumerable about how Rahman was always keen on the gadget side of things. It was for this reason that he got noticed even in his first film ‘Roja’, which was a whiff of fresh air, when it released.

The continuum, along with the accordion, was played by Rahman himself in Rehna Tu, apart from him singing as well. It is now said that Rahman is using this in great measure in Rajini’s 'Endhiran', for which the Oscar Tamilan is composing music.

Continuum Fingerboard

Ash talking Tamil

She had done before, she has done it now. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had tried her skills in Kollywood and had delivered mind blowing performances in ‘Iruvar', ‘Jeans’ and ‘Kandukonden Kandukonden’ and went on to earn appreciation from South audience. Now, she is back again in Shankar’s magnum opus ‘Endhiran’ and ‘Robot’ in Hindi, with leading hero and Superstar Rajinikanth.

The movie team has found that this former Miss. World has exceptional grasping powers. She impressed all, including the Superstar, with her good hold on the Tamil language that she had mastered in a very short span of time. But Ash is only amused about it and said that regional languages were not a problem for her, at the same time she was not at all familiar with Tamil. The team were prepared to have re-takes while shooting the Tamil version but “she was soon rattling off the dialogues and getting hang of the emotions with equal skill in both the Hindi and Tamil takes. So much so that Rajini Sir was taken aback,” sources said.

Initially, it was said that she had easily learnt the ropes of Karate, which was necessary for her character in the movie.

Should we say she is ‘Mistress of Talents’?

Rahman uses novel concept for Endhiran

If you have listened to Rehna Tu in Delhi 6, you cannot miss the final piece in the song, a peculiar type of instrumentation. Are you still wondering about the instrument that was used? It is in fact the Continuum fingerboard. This is a touch screen keyboard and is being used only by the rarest of rare music composers.

AR Rahman has tried the usage of this novel instrument in Delhi 6 and happy with the results he is now using this Continuum fingerboard for Endhiran. But the news here is that it not for a single song but for the whole movie.

With this novel concept there is no doubt the songs will top the charts.

"I knew the story of Endhiran 10 years ago”

Art director Sabu Cyril, in a recent interview to a magazine, said that director Shankar narrated the story of Endhiran to him 10 years ago. He recalled the photo shoot that took place with Kamal Haasan but the project did not materialize any further. Similarly, Shah Rukh Khan also opted out of Endhiran and finally Rajinikanth lapped it up. Sabu said that Rajini is the most apt hero to play the role.

The proud art director said that he was signed up for the venture 10 years ago. Sabu said that he had used Aluminum Composite Panels to create sets for Endhiran. These are not only cost effective but can be reused and environmentally safe. The art director added that Aluminum Composite Panels have been used in the Indian cinema before.

Rajini on TV next?

If reports are to be believed, you could soon catch on screen, a face that has mesmerized millions of Tamilians with a voice and style that still remains inimitable. Yes, the Superstar could soon be on TV asking you, his fans, to catch him soon in Sun Pictures’ Endhiran The Robot'.

The Superstar, who is currently working in Shankar’s ‘Endhiran The Robot’ is said to have agreed to this unique means of promoting his film. He pairs with Aishwarya Rai for the first time in this film, which is being filmed at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore.

With more than 60 percent of the shooting for the film being completed, the production house is said to be adopting never-heard-of methods to publicise the mega starrer, which also has Academy Award winning music composer AR Rahman working on the movie’s music.

Reports say the production house plans to do this personal invite from Rajinikanth and already has the Superstar’s nod to the project. And given Sun Pictures aggressive promotion campaigns for all their films, it is no surprise that they have come up with such a grand plan to promote their first direct production.

Superstar’s new project with SUN TV

Shankar is leaving no stones unturned to wrap up Endhiran in style. According to the latest available reports, there are signs that the mammoth venture’s production budget might well exceed the set limits of 150 crores. That’s not to say that SUN TV is curbing the expenses. On the other hand, the excessive production budget is also being met with, according to sources by the production giant.

Latest in the series is that Rajini has agreed for another movie after Endhiran for SUN pictures. A local tabloid has carried news to this effect adding that Rajini has nodded his consent for the project. Only an official announcement can clear the air, however.

Shankar’s line up for Endhiran

Director Shankar is known to give importance to comedy in his all films. In fact the director has followed this trend right from his Gentleman. The director also makes sure that the theme of all his films revolve around a major social issue.

This time around, for Endhiran, Shankar has ensured that there is adequate comedy in the film. While he had roped in Santhanam to take care of the comedy, there is Kalabhavan Mani who will be a comical villain.

Endhiran is a mega budget film produced by Sun Pictures and has impressive line up of star cast including Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Danny Denzongpa.

Rajini and Shankar wait for Endhiran

The Rajinikanth - Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran has created a lot of expectations among the movie buffs. While news about this film was flowing in constantly, there seemed to be a sudden lull in the developments. However, the latest we hear from the Endhiran camp is that the first schedule has been completed.

Our sources say that director Shankar and Rajini are keen on getting a glimpse of the film shot so far and hence sent it for computer graphics work. Once this work is completed, the team will proceed with the second schedule. The next schedule is expected to commence, probably during the second week of July. Following this break, Rajini and Ash seems to have got a well deserved respite.

Mother of makeovers for ‘Endhiran’

Shankar’s multi crore project ‘Endhiran’s filming is going on at a feverish pitch. Among other things the film boasts superstar Rajinikanth and ex-miss World Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. The lead lady has signed this film for a whooping six crore deal!

‘Endhiran’ is a sci-fi thriller. This film sees Aishwarya Rai donning nearly 57 different makeovers! The beauty has been filmed in an exclusive Mexican tribe’s makeover which is sure to have a jaw-dropping effect on the youth.

Aish will be seen in the Mexican makeover for a song sequence.

Oja Rajini is responsible for the different make over worn by Aish. Much of the filming has been under wraps, but thanks to the enthusiastic technicians who leak out some stories unknowingly. Manish Malhotra’s costumes have given a refreshing look and feel to the film; he is the man behind the costumes for the lead pair throughout the film.

The film which has expectations running high has music by Oscar winner AR Rahman.

100 Rajinis in Endhiran

News from the Shankar-directed Endhiran camp is that Prabhu Deva is choreographing a dance sequence involving Rajinikanth. It is said that special plans have been made to make the song a unique one.

The buzz we hear from the Endhiran team is that this song will be shot in the blue mat format. What is so special about the blue mat format is that it has the ability to show 100 Rajinis in a single shot.

Endhiran is a mega budget film that has super star Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. It is directed by Shankar and music is by the Oscar winner AR Rahman.

Will recession curb Shankar’s enthusiasm?

He is arguably the biggest showman in the Kollywood business. Be it in Sivaji, Mudhalvan or Anniyan, Shankar’s trademark extravagance has been a highlight. In fact, such opulence and grandeur on screen has come to become the director’s trademark.
And such excesses aren’t traditionally intended to be ignored for a film in which he directs Asia’s costliest hero, the Superstar. But have budget problems affected the shooting for Endhiran?
After shifting hands from Ayngaran to Sun Network, it is believed that the entire film was rebudgeted, and plans to downsize in terms of the shooting locales were formulated. In fact, a huge portion of the film has been shot in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including deep forests. But now, news has been trickling that Shankar had originally planned a song in his own flamboyant style for the film, with a budget of a whopping Rs 30 crores. In fact, that is how much it takes to make a big budget film today! Yet, the director wanted to do it as he had casted in his film, two of the most bankable names, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajinikanth. Their salaries together are said to have cost over Rs 30 crores in itself. Yet, word has it that the director is rethinking on shooting this song in such an elaborate manner. So far, three songs of the film have been canned, one each in Goa, Peru and Chennai. When, where and how this song will be shot is the costly question on every lip.

The other side of the Endhiran’s Kettavan!

Danny Denzongpa is the new man to fight with the superstar Rajinikanth! Sources close to the Endhiran team say that the sequences where Rajini and Danny appear on screen will be a treat to the fans, especially the intense fights.

Though Danny is new to Kollywood, he has 154 films to his credit including Hindi, Nepali and Sikkim. The most famous of his films include the internationally acclaimed 7 Years in Tibet. Danny may be an actor

Danny Denzongpa
but he says that he does not like watching movies especially the dance sequences. The last film that he saw was an Amitabh Bachchan starrer in the year 1992. The actor has starred with stalwarts like Big B and Shah Rukh Khan.

The baddie on screen that he is, Danny is a totally different man when not facing the camera. Danny initially wanted to get into the military but could not do so due to various reasons. Having found cinema the best avocation, the actor also pursued several of his interests off the screen. He is a noted artist in his home state Sikkim. Apart from that he is good at sculpting and writing too.

Well, the superstar sure does have a tough baddie with all the best qualities!

Robot Rajini romances Aishwarya

Endhiran

Endhiran Gallery

Remember director Shankar’s previous film ‘Anniyan’, in which Vikram’s character of Ambi transforms to Remo just to win his childhood love, Gayathri’s (played by Sadha) affection?

If reports are to be believed, it is a very similar premise upon which the Robot Rajini is created in ‘Endhiran’. Rajini plays a scientist cum professor in a college and is smitten by Aishwarya Rai. But the actress does not reciprocate and this is when Rajini receives an offer to make a robot. The professor uses this chance to create a robot which is his look alike and makes it modern for Ash to like.

Scenes in the film, which show the robot Rajini buying modern clothes in City Centre or styling its hair in a posh salon in Adyar are said to be thorough complete laugh riots, also similar to Rajini dabbing Fair and Lovely or doing face packs to look fair in ‘Sivaji’-The Boss’.

‘Endhiran’, produced by Sun Network, is director Shankar’s second film each with Rajini and Aishwarya Rai. Raju Sundaram has choreographed for professor Rajini for a song while Lawrence has choreographed for the Robot Rajini. Grapevine also has it that Shankar might seek the help of renowned Indian Hollywood filmmaker, Manoj Night Shyamalan, in making this film.

What does Prabhu Deva have for Rajini?

It is a well known fact that Raju Sundaram has choreographed the Machu Pichu song which is salsa based and Lawrence, the robotic style song for Endhiran. Now it is the turn of Prabhu Deva who is working at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The USP of this song is that Rajinikanth and his double will be shaking legs for the choreographer’s moves.

Prabhu Deva known for his dancing style is the right choice to choreograph our very own style icon,

Prabhu Deva

Rajinikanth. It will definitely be a treat to watch two superstars dancing on screen.

Why Rajini went to a hair dresser?

Robot, Shankar’s project with Rajinikanth is progressing at a steady pace. Media has been speculating about the story of the film in various formats. The recent one to do the round is that scientist Rajini has created the robot Rajini for good purposes. However the Robot Rajini has fallen head over heels in love with Aishwarya Rai who does not reciprocate his feelings. To impress her, Robot Rajini goes to the best saloons in town and gets his hair done. Later on the Robot even visits City Centre to buy

Endhiran

good dresses. Though he tries various means, he is not successful but earns the wrath of the beauty queen. That’s how the story goes. Let us wait and watch for some more time to see if this theory on Endhiran story becomes true.

Endhiran – Most Pricey song ever in Kollywood

On the dots, it’s going to be the most luxuriously crafted flick by Shankar so far in his career. With the budget getting on higher around Rs.150Crores, the filmmaker goes irresistible in picturing each and every frame so lavish in style. Aye! It’s all about ‘Endhiran’ that the entire town talks about.

Meanwhile, here’s a lollapalooza for Shankar’s top-notching make of a song that was earlier witnessed with ‘Boom Boom’ in Boys, ‘Randakka’ in Anniyan and ‘Vaaji Vaaji’ in Sivaji – The Boss. Well, a costliest title song for ‘Endhiran’ was shot extensively in Hyderabad with Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai and 1000 junior artists on the grand sets erected by Sabu Cyril. The spotlighting dioramas of this song are all about the expensive-robot-costumes wore by the junior artists. A.R. Rahman has the snazzy tunes spelled with Madhurshree of ‘Vaaji’ fame crooning for it.

More stunning part in this musical album would be three exclusive signature themes that was scored by A. R. Rahman.

Indeed, it’s Maestro’s gift for magniloquent filmmaker….

Endhiran – Raju’s Salsa and Lawrence’s Robotic style!

Although Endhiran is only slated for a 2010 release, shoots are on in full swing with Shankar calling the shots in locations encompassing the exotic South American countries to our very own Chennai. He is spotted with his cast and crew in and around Chennai a few days ago too.

As is customary to Shankar’s movies, Endiran’s song sequences are said to be the highlights of the film. Interestingly, the recently filmed duet song between

Raju Sundaram

Rajini and Ash in Machu Pichu, Peru is choreographed by Raju Sundaram whose quirky moves add spice to Shankar’s creativity. The movements in the song are salsa based, it is learnt. Besides, one of the song sequences required a robotic style dance for which Lawrence came in handy. The technical aspects of this song have been done in one of the studios in Hollywood. Besides, shoots were also held in the picturesque Hawaii islands.

Ash and Boss at Hyderabad

Endhiran alias Robot, the magnum opus of Shankar-Rajinikanth-Rahman is getting chiseled in a perfect manner. Currently the shooting is happening in India after the initial overseas schedule. Though secrecy has always remained the keyword with all of Shankar’s projects, the visual, print and the web media have been successful in getting hold of information about the film in one way or the other.

The latest to come from the Robot’s stable is that a

Endhiran
song will be shot soon at Hyderabad involving the lead pair which is likely to be Shankar’s signature number. Industry sources aver that this song will be choreographed on lines of Randakka in Anniyan or Azhagana Ratshasi in Mudalvan where aesthetic and creative minds went into work which took care of the minutest details in the frame. The colossal set for this number will be created by Sabu Cyril in which Ash and Boss will be gyrating along with junior artists in expensive attire to the tune of double Oscar winner A R Rahman, sung by Madhushree

Endhiran - Expensive title song to be shot

A song rumoured to be the title song for Rajinikanth’s Shankar directed Endhiran will be shot at Hyderabad. The song is a typical Shankar song where heroine Aishwarya Rai is shown showering her love on the hero Rajinikanth.

Remember the Vaaji, Vaaji, title song shot on Rajini and Shriya in Sivaji, showing the superstar’s heroism? The song was picturised with all Shankar trademarks of splendor, glamour and glitz with Madhusree singing to A.R Rahman’s tune.

Something similar in style with more richness and grandeur is being planned by the “showman of south cinema” Shankar on Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai for Endhiran accompanied by nearly 1000 junior artists, all of them wearing silver colored ‘Robo’ costumes. This song which was recorded recently by A.R Rahman was also sung by Madhusri.

It will be one of the most expensive songs in Kollywood, as the Robo costumes with thongs worn by the group dancers is said to be very expensive. It will be shot on a set created by art director Sabu Cyril in a Hyderabad studio, and will be a major highlight of the film.

Rajni's Endhiran look

The story of Endhiran (also spelt as Enthiran) is set in the future, when new and bizarre (to us) fashion fads would come into existence. And that is the reason Rajinikanth walks the sets of Endhiran in costumes that are quite hard to initially appreciate; but they look absolutely great on him. Only a charismatic personality like Rajni can make such costumes look good. And that is what Bollywood hairstylist Aalim had to say, 'Rajinikanth is one of the few actors who complements what he wears!' Envisaging future fashion fads, costume designer Manish Malhotra and Aalim have worked extensively on Rajinikanth's look in Endhiran. They say Rajinikanth's hairstyle and his stylish sideburns are sure to cause a frenzy! Manish is said to have used copper extensively in Rajni's costumes in Endhiran and Aalim has provided the star a matching hairstyle! Now, that would be interesting to watch! Endhiran is sure to start many fashion fads amidst our youngsters! Mary E. Vogt the expert who designed the futuristic suits and gadgets in Men in Black, Bat Man Returns and Inspector Gadget created the robot in Endhiran (which is modeled after Rajinikanth). It looks like the fashion industry will flourish in Tamil Nadu after Endhiran releases! PS: At present, the Endhiran crew is filming in an undisclosed location in one of Chennai's famous IT parks.

Recession hits Endhiran!

With the world’s economy slipping into recession threatening to bring with it even the Indian economy, looks like production houses are pulling their purse strings to save for the rainy day. SUN Pictures, producers of Endhiran recently called off the crew’s plans to construct a set in the Ramoji Rao Film City for filming one of the songs. Security reasons were also quoted behind the cancellation of plans.

Meanwhile, the song will be shot in an exclusively

Endhiran

constructed set at the MRC Nagar grounds, owned by the SUN Management. Last heard, Shankar was also consulted upon and the plan has been finalized regarding the change in location.

AR Rahman and Shankar: Best Duo in Town

We have been chronicling the journey of Rahman towards the pinnacle of glory. Check out the magic weaved by Rahman in the company of director Shankar today.

The journey of success between Rahman and Shankar were almost parallel. Soon after Rahman made his beginning with Roja, he joined hands with Shankar for the latter's maiden venture 'Gentleman'. The songs set a new trend and soon the duo gone ahead to do films including 'Kadhalan', 'Indian', 'Jeans', 'Mudhalvan', 'Boys', 'Sivaji' and the under-production 'Endhiran'.

Thrilled at his association with Rahman, Shankar had always marveled at his dedication and hard work. He often referred to him as a hard working musician who never gives up until he comes out with convincing music.

Rahman, on his part was equally thrilled to work with Shankar. 'He is one of the best film-makers, who give more freedom for a musician. He extracts the best from his music composers and has a sound knowledge about music'.

The two have been working in tandem and promises to go several miles புர்தேர்

With 'Endhiran', the sci-fi extravaganza of Shankar shaping up fast, Rahman might recreate the magic with mellifluous tunes for us one more time.

Rajini - Ash’s Endhiran coziness

With Endhiran progressing day in and day out, there is no dearth of availability of news about the movie. The team was spotted in several parts of the Chennai city and its suburbs in the recent past. The lead pair, Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been the cynosure of all eyes, especially the media, who were keen to know every little bit of detail involving them.

Meanwhile, we heard wind of the fact that for one of

Endhiran

the intimate shoots involving Rajini and Aishwarya Rai, the crew members, except those of the bare minimum staff, were evacuated from the sets. These scenes were shot by Shankar at the AVM Studio recently. It is also learnt that these scenes are part of a song.
